The Patty Shop in Vancouver

I guess this shop has been around for a long time ! Simple & basic, nothing fancy, but delicious patties. They only accept cash though, wish they had alternatives. Well worth the stop though !

Had these over 40 years ago....I was knee high to a grasshopper...was a special treat on our way to see gramma.Tasted them yesterday ..mild beef version.....omg took me back 40 years. They are THE SAME!! Bulk buy these babies! You wont regret a nickle.

Jamaican here.It would be more accurately called The English Pasty Shop. The meat pies are okay, but definitely not Jamaican and fairly bland. The pastry is flakey, which is good, but it tastes sour. The pastry should be golden, flakey, and slightly sweet. The meat filling is also off, it tastes more like a tourtiere and doesn't have the balanced savory blend of Jamaican spices a real patty does. It is a pale comparison. Overall, if you're looking for a cheap meat pie, they have you covered. But if you want a real Jamaican patty that would blow this out of the water, Vancouver is sadly lacking...so far.

You need to try these out fantastic Jamaican patties. They only take cash and cheques. Great to see a business holding onto cash and cheques like Donald holds on to his hair. Always hot and fresh. Jewel in the rough.

it is perfect patty. really well priced, locally made and delicious!! frozen or ready to go and here's another great thing about this place they have daily specials... like a pizza day yah. the pizza patty, i cant remember the rest because I go throught a patty euphoria.... sigh. it has been here for decades and so it feels like a must do atleast when i am in the hood. wish they would move to the east side. Sidenote: the BC driver's licence office is close by so that's another reason to go to the patty shop. Wait! You dont need a reason to go...just go and be in beef patty heaven. or veggie patty heaven or even spicy beef patty heaven. The recipe for a good day is having a patty day. Let's face it anything with meat stuffed into dough call it a calzone, gyoza, dumpling, pelmini, perogies or a patty - IT's ALL Good!

Ended up stopping in to pick up some frozen patties, and they lovely worker there was just locking up, I felt bad cause I knew I was late, but to my surprise she opened up the door and asked me if I had travelled far? It was actually really nice of her because I did in fact travel from Port Coquitlam and due to traffic I wasn't able to make it before closing, all that being said, she gladly helped me out and saved me the long trip back home empty handed, she sold me 2 frozen bags of patties and I made it back to my potluck dinner with the most talked about food of the night! Big thanks to the wonderful staff who really do go out of their way to help their customers out. The patties were 10/10 and then hospitality and kindness was truly appreciated. Thank you 😊👍🏽You guys are the best 😊👍🏽

Very good patties for around $2 each, can also buy frozen by the dozen

Love the Jamaican patties here. The best meat ones are the curry beef. Just the right amount of spice. Not too spicy. Would like to try and spinach and cheese ones but they sold out and I couldn't wait for the next batch. I will just have to try another time.

The best Jamaican patties in town, no doubt! They have them ready to eat and frozen to take home. I had the beef and curry veggie ones. I must go back and try all the other ones as well. Now, go get yours! Cash and cheques only, no debit or credit cards. Free parking within a block.

This is a hidden gem for Jamaican Beef Patties. The staff are wonderful. Store has been in business for over 40 years. They also have a few other items on their menu. Patties can be bought frozen to make at home and they are at a lower price. Street parking. #letsguide

I've been told this has the best patties in the city. I bought a Roti instead of a patties but it was good too. I have to return and try their Patty another time.This is a little place with an order counter and a kitchen in the back. There is no place to eat onsite, not even a counter to stand and eat. So take out only.Be aware they only accept cash or cheque, not even debit!They only sold Chicken or Vegetable Roti. Some told me they used to sell Beef and Goat. I didn't ask if they changed their menu or simply ran out by 5:00pm. They close at 6:30pm so you have to plan to get there early if you want to buy for dinner.There are lots of selections for patties. They even sell frozen ones.There is a drinks vending machine.It is possible to parking along the street for free for a short while.

DO NOT EAT HERE If you actually know what real Jamaican Patties taste like! The crust is not terrible and the filling lack flavour, so disappointed. Will never go back.

I buy the frozen patties in bulk for snacks and they're like fancy pizza pockets, could become an addiction in the future, who knows.UPDATE: when I meant addiction, I didn't mean survival necessity.

Great place to grab a quick snack. Better to go before or after the lunch rush as it's popular with the nearby schools. They have pizza patties on Wednesday and taco patties on Thursday.

The first time I came here I thought I was about to eat dog food. I was wrong. These patties are piping hot pockets of goodness. Always worth the visit. The veggie ones are tasty, and the frozen ones keep well. Never drive by, always stop in.

Took a 2 hour bus ride from the tricities to get to here to find out they were only selling frozen patties. And only sold them in dozens, despite them not selling fresh all day, so couldn't even get to bring some home because no one expects to have to bring over $20 just to taste some patties. Sorely disappointed, not sure when I will be in the area again. Just really upset. Would of easily bought 1/2 dozen. 4 hours of my day wasted because they couldn't rebag a half dozen.

Hard to find Jamaican patties in town. This is definitely the place to go to pick up a dozen frozen to take home or even get 1 ready to eat. Highly recommend the visit.

A great place for chicken curry patties. We have tried every filling and agree that the chicken is the best. It's spicy so be aware of that. The taco and pizza are also good choices but only available 1 day a week. Pizza= Wednesdays.Taco= Thursdays.You can also buy frozen bags of patties. They re-heat really well in the oven.

An absolute Vancouver institution. Delicious patties for as long as I can remember (40 years). A simple menu. Hot or Mild beef, Spinach, Curry, Chicken... special days featuring taco or pizza patties.

Just about every other reviewer is spot-on. These pockets of heaven are to die for.I went at almost closing (5:30) and they still had some coming out of the oven. Surprisingly cheap, we purchased 14 for $40 which is absolutely reasonable. Other places I've been to were $4-4.30 each.Service was fast, friendly, and spent the extra effort to go through how they layed out the order in the box.Absolute must-see.Feb 24- Edited to confirm price was $40 not $50

Stopped in for a quick lunch after reading about the Patty shop in the news. I’m glad I did. Had a couple hot beef and 1 curry - delicious! I’ll be back!

This place was amazing! It looks like a little hole-in-the-wall but the pattys were delicious and so reasonably priced for a decent size. We tried the veggie, mild beef, curry chicken, and taco. They were all good. Taco was my fave. I would definitely go back and get a stash for my freezer.

I / we have been going here for years (since the early 90's) First through the Uni years, then through the bachelor / playa years....... Now through the family years. The Patty Shop is fantastic! Extremely consistent! Curry and Chicken are our faves....and not to mention....... Delicious! We hope they can keep going through these tough real estate years.... They also have the Chicken ROTI...... OG with chickpea flour in the wrap. So good! But, the best treat is their Pizza or Taco Patty days.... Thank you Arawak Industries!
